Sundog Ceramics

Sundog Ceramics Dawn Shirley grew up in Rockford, Illinois thinking that she would become a biologist. That did not happen. However, her interest in the natural world shows in much of her work. Walks in the woods inspire colors and patterns. Fallen leaves become decorations. The night sky covers a bowl. Dawn first encountered clay as a kindergartener when she made a spider on a hill, but was unimpressed when all the glazes turned out brown. A class in college proved to be a bit more inspiring. It wasn’t until later, however, in a continuing ed class at Rock Valley
